Istanbul Chief Prosecutor Detains 26 People; Nusret Altınbaş Sought
In an operation launched following a Capital Markets Board referral, the owner of Altınbaş Holding was apprehended while his brother İnan Altınbaş and former Treasury official Eren Yeşilyurt were detained.
The Istanbul Chief Prosecutor's Office has detained 26 suspects accused of manipulating the prices of four stocks traded on Borsa Istanbul; five suspects, including Nusret Altınbaş, the owner of Altınbaş Holding, remain at large.
The operation, initiated following a referral from the Capital Markets Board, covers abnormal price movements in shares of Işıklar Enerji, Vişne Madencilik, Odine Teknoloji, and Tera Finansal Yatırımlar Holding.
Among those detained is Eren Yeşilyurt, who held five different positions ranging from Revenue Inspector at the Treasury and Finance Ministry to Head of Istanbul Large-Scale Taxpayers Group. İnan Altınbaş, Chairman of Altınbaş Holding's Board of Directors, is also in detention; all assets of family members have been frozen.
Mustafa Terzi, Head of A1 Capital Portfolio Management; Seyit Tahir Özek, Head of Alnus Investment; Ayşegül Kaya, Tera Portfolio Manager; Zuhal Topaloğlu, Atlas Portfolio Partner; Mehmet Selim Tunçbilek, General Manager of Pardus Portfolio; Ömer Eryılmaz, Member of Hedef Holding's Board of Directors; and Çetin Genç, Manager of Pirnus Yapı Gayrimenkul Fatih Branch, are among the 26 people detained.
The Capital Markets Board has also temporarily suspended the operations of Alnus Investment, Bulls Investment, and Pusula Investment.
