7-story Cansever Apartment in Karamürsel evacuated: 33 people removed

In the Karamürsel district of Kocaeli, residents of the 7-story Cansever Apartment on Admiral Street in the 4 Temmuz neighborhood noticed sounds coming from columns and beams and called the 112 Emergency Call Center. Following the report, teams from AFAD, UMKE, the municipality, and police were dispatched to the building.

After the initial inspection, the building was evacuated as a precaution; 33 people residing in 14 apartments were removed. Of the evacuated residents, only 1 family lacking accommodation was assigned a teachers' hostel.

Karamürsel Mayor Ahmet Çalık, who arrived at the scene, told the AA correspondent that teams from the Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Provincial Directorate were conducting an inspection of the building and that the evacuation decision was based on the assessment of these teams. Karamürsel District Governor Kemal İnan also gathered information from the teams at the scene as part of the investigation.
