Four Detained Over Allegations of Throwing Man From Window During Debt Collection in Küçükçekmece

Four people have been detained on suspicion of throwing Erdem Sarı (40) to his death from a height in Istanbul's Küçükçekmece district. According to Cumhuriyet newspaper, the suspects allegedly forcibly confined Sarı in a home while attempting to collect a debt from him, before throwing him out a window.

The incident exposes the lethal scale of violence used in debt collection operations in Istanbul. The four detainees will be referred to the prosecutor's office following police processing.

According to Cumhuriyet, police have launched an investigation to uncover the details of the incident. Statements indicating that Sarı was forcibly detained before the fall are said to directly influence the course of the investigation.

The case is being pursued under charges of intentional homicide and unlawful deprivation of liberty.
