The Court of Accounts' 2025 audit report on Beykoz Municipality revealed that approximately 1,600 people using social support cards did not meet the criteria of being in need. The report points to serious misuse of the municipality's social assistance system.

According to audit findings, it was determined that owners of luxury vehicles and individuals with multiple properties were included in the municipality's aid network. The most striking finding among these was that a person who owned a luxury vehicle and 25 hazelnut orchards also benefited from the social support card.

The Court of Accounts report revealed not only irregularities in social assistance distribution but also notable problems in honorarium payments. Vice-Mayor Özlem Vural Gürzel, who leads Beykoz Municipality, resigned from the CHP and joined the AKP ranks; she received her badge directly from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The report's emergence in public discourse has reignited discussions about resource management at the municipality.
