The Spanish government has launched a legislative package of six laws designed to combat disinformation, pseudomedia, and ensure greater transparency in the information ecosystem.
The initiative comes as Madrid applies pressure on coalition partner Junts, which has opposed stricter media regulation. The center-right PP and far-right Vox have also resisted the measures, arguing they overreach into editorial matters.
The government framed the legislation as necessary to protect democratic pluralism and public trust in media institutions. The proposals aim to establish clearer standards for news organizations, combat misinformation networks, and increase accountability across Spain's fragmented media landscape.
