Gamma Knife installed in Bishkek: brain tumor treatment cheaper than abroad
High-tech equipment has been mounted at Clinic No. 8 based at the National Center for Oncology and Hematology; specialists from Sweden will assist with the launch.
A Gamma Knife for non-surgical treatment of brain tumors and a number of vascular pathologies has been installed at Clinic No. 8 based at the National Center for Oncology and Hematology in Kyrgyzstan. This was reported by Kenesbek Yrysov, Vice-Rector of the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy.
A separate facility has been allocated for the equipment, equipped in accordance with radiation safety requirements. Specialists from Sweden will provide assistance in launching the installation.
According to Kenesbek Yrysov, the cost of the procedure in Kyrgyzstan will be lower than in neighboring countries: in Kazakhstan it exceeds $5,000, in Russia it is at least $10,000, in Turkey around $15,000. The final tariff for patients in the republic has not yet been determined — this was previously reported by Indira Orozbaeva, rector of KSMA.
