Preparatory work on the flagship hydroelectric project of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan has been completed.

Construction of the Kambar-Atin HPP-1 on the Naryn River could begin in 2027 or 2028, President Sadyr Japarov announced at a meeting with residents of Tash-Kumyr and Kara-Kul in Jalal-Abad Region.
The head of state said that "preparatory work has been completed" and expressed hope that construction would begin in 2027 or 2028, lasting five to six years.
The power station is being implemented jointly by Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan. The facility is planned to have three hydro units with a combined capacity of 1,860 megawatts; once operational, it is expected to generate approximately 6 billion kilowatt-hours annually. The project is estimated to cost 4.2 billion dollars.
