Kyrgyzstan Completes Construction of Its CASA-1000 Segment
Representatives of four countries gathered in Bishkek to align terms for the commercial launch of the energy corridor.

Kyrgyzstan has completed construction of infrastructure under the international energy project CASA-1000, the OJSC National Electric Grids of Kyrgyzstan (NESK) announced.
A joint working-group meeting took place in Bishkek from 7 to 9 October 2026, bringing together representatives of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan alongside international project partners. The parties discussed implementation progress in other participating countries and the tasks that remain.
According to Tajikistan's Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, participants also reviewed the selection of an operator for the DC conversion stations, monitoring arrangements, and the mobilisation of financing to complete outstanding work.
CASA-1000 covers the export of surplus hydroelectric power from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to Afghanistan and Pakistan during the summer months.
