Kyrgyzstan Assumed Chairmanship of Turkic Parliamentary Assembly at Bishkek Meeting
Speaker Marlen Mamataliyev received a symbolic mallet from Kazakhstan's speaker during a formal ceremony of authority transfer.
The Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (Turkic PA) opened its regular sessions at the Yrys-Ordo Congress Hall in Bishkek. The main event was the official transfer of the chairmanship from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan.
During the ceremonial proceedings, Chairman of the Senate of Kazakhstan Aibek Dadebayev presented Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Marlen Mamataliyev with a symbolic mallet — a traditional attribute marking the transition of chairmanship powers in the Assembly.
Following the completion of the ceremony, the Assembly Council's session continued under the leadership of the Kyrgyz side. Turkic PA unites the parliaments of Turkic-speaking states and serves as a platform for inter-parliamentary dialogue and coordination of legislative initiatives in the region.
In assuming the chairmanship, Mamataliyev outlined key priorities for the upcoming work, emphasizing the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening cooperation among member states and developing their historical and cultural ties.
