Peskov: Ceasefire Zone Near Aleshki Initially Covered Territory Beyond the City
The Kremlin clarified that the ceasefire agreement in Kherson Region, coordinated with the participation of Melania Trump, from the outset extended to territory beyond Aleshki.
Russian President's Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that the ceasefire agreement in the Aleshki area of Kherson Region from the beginning envisioned territory extending beyond the city itself.
Commenting on reports of a statement by U.S. First Lady Melania Trump about expanding the ceasefire zone, Peskov responded to TASS's question: "This was discussed. People have been talking about it for two days already." When asked for clarification — whether the original agreement extended to territory larger than the city itself — he replied: "Of course. Read all the statements carefully," emphasized the Kremlin's press secretary.
On October 23, the White House announced that Russia and Ukraine, with the assistance of Melania Trump, had reached a ceasefire agreement in Aleshki, which takes effect on October 29. The parties agreed to halt all combat operations in the city to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid and prepare the evacuation of civilians through a separate safe corridor.
