Tornado Strikes Construction Site in Antalya: 4 Workers Killed

Four workers died after a tornado swept through a construction site in the Fuze Chaqmak neighborhood of Kepez district in Antalya, at a time when the General Directorate of Meteorology had issued a yellow warning for heavy rainfall in the city.

Antalya Governor Hulusi Sahin told journalists that the tornado destroyed two containers that housed the site's workers, scattering five of them into the air. He said: "Two of our workers died at the scene of the incident, and two others died at the hospital to which they were taken. One worker is injured and his condition is stable," noting that what occurred was "an extremely rare natural phenomenon, as no storm or tornado was reported at any other location in the city, nor in neighboring buildings."

Sahin added that a crane at the same site was overturned by the storm, but this incident resulted in no casualties. He confirmed that field teams continued sweeping operations to search for any other injured or potential victims.
