Bishkek completes preparations for SCO summit and Nomadic Games: 17 roads repaired

Bishkek is preparing to host two major international events: the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit and the VI World Nomadic Games, which will take place in the coming days. The capital's mayor, Aibek Zhunushaliев, discussed the results of preparatory work in an interview with the Kabar news agency.

According to the mayor, the city was initially given four road projects, but in the end 17 streets and roads were repaired. Overall road work is 96–97% complete; individual sections are still being finished, but Zhunushaliев assured that all work will be completed in full by the time the events open.

Simultaneously, large-scale improvement work is underway in the city: building facades are being updated, street lighting is being modernized, and public spaces are being put in order. The mayor also reported that an agreement has been reached with tourism companies to provide discounts for Bishkek residents during the major events — city dwellers will be able to choose independently how to spend those days.
