Qatar Takes On Mediation Between Washington and Tehran at Trump's Request

The Times of Israel reported that Qatar is assuming a principal mediating role between the United States and Iran at the request of U.S. President Donald Trump.

According to the report, Doha is conducting intensive diplomatic efforts to bridge the gap between the two sides, in an attempt to improve bilateral relations that have been strained for years.

This move comes in the context of the new Trump administration's efforts to reshape its policy toward the Iran dossier. Qatar is considered an important player in the region and maintains strong diplomatic relations with numerous countries, including Iran and the United States.

Qatari authorities have not officially commented on the report so far.
