CHP Afyon Provincial Headquarters' Facebook Account Seized by Appointed Administrators

CHP Afyon Provincial Headquarters announced that it lost control of its official Facebook account after the Ankara Regional Court of Appeal's 36th Civil Chamber annulled the party's 38th Ordinary Congress. The provincial headquarters stated that administrative rights to the account had been revoked by centrally appointed General Headquarters administrators.

According to Cumhuriyet newspaper, a similar incident had previously occurred at CHP Aydın Provincial Headquarters, drawing attention to the social media dimension of the trusteeship process affecting local organisations. In this second case following Aydın, provincial headquarters officials again went public to report that they had been locked out of the account.

With the congress annulled by court order and a power struggle persisting between Kılıçdaroğlu's court-appointed administration and elected local officials, the friction between central appointments and grassroots party structures continues to play out on the ground.
