Following a spring of exceptionally heavy rainfall in Gümüşhane, the region's principal dams have reached critical levels.
The Torul and Kürtün Dams have both hit 100 percent capacity. The State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) has launched controlled water releases to prevent downstream flooding. No precise discharge volume has been officially confirmed.
Local residents have been warned, and the release operations are being conducted under expert supervision. With the reservoirs now full, concerns about water availability during the regular consumption season appear to have been eased.
