As evacuations continue due to a hantavirus outbreak on the MV Hondius passenger ship anchored in the Canary Islands, which belong to Spain, one of five passengers brought to France has been found to show signs of illness. France's Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu said the situation would be confirmed.

Hundreds of passengers were evacuated from the Canary Islands due to the outbreak on the ship. Hantavirus is a disease transmitted from rodents to humans that carries a life-threatening risk. Health authorities are closely monitoring the health status of the passengers.
