At 00:15, Batuhan G., a trans individual, was found motionless in the bathroom of an apartment hotel in Alsancak neighborhood, Konak district of Izmir. According to DHA, friends who had been unable to reach Batuhan G. — who occasionally stayed at the hotel — called the 112 Emergency Call Center; police and health teams dispatched to the address entered the room and found the person in the bathroom.
Following initial intervention by health teams at the scene, Batuhan G. was taken to Alsancak Nevvar Salih İşgören State Hospital; however, Batuhan G. could not be saved despite all interventions. Teams determined that hot water in the bathroom was supplied through a water heater and are focusing on the possibility that death resulted from electrical current. The Konak Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the incident. There is no record of when technical inspections of apartment hotels in Alsancak were last conducted.
