Russia and Kazakhstan will sign a nuclear power deal during President Vladimir Putin's upcoming state visit to Astana, the Kremlin confirmed, according to Asharq Al-Awsat English.
Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov said Putin's second state visit to Kazakhstan is itself a break from tradition, reflecting the high level of bilateral relations, as TASS reported. Ushakov added that Russia's share in Kazakhstan's foreign trade stands at approximately 19 percent, with trade turnover between the two countries reaching a record high.
The nuclear agreement adds a significant strategic dimension to a visit already notable for its diplomatic symbolism, as Moscow and Astana deepen economic and energy ties.
