Cumhuriyet newspaper reported that the time required for an ordinary worker to purchase a home with their own money has risen sharply in Turkey.

According to the study, this increase follows policies dismantling the social welfare system that was once considered a "strategic advantage" after the Cold War.

The study warned that the middle class faces a "major dispossession" and mounting pressures from a subscription and rental economy, threatening the very concept of private ownership.
