Çanakkale Governor's Office Bans Open Fires for 3 Days Starting August 13 Due to Forest Fire Risk

The Çanakkale Governor's Office has issued a 3-day ban effective Thursday, August 13, across the province based on fire analyses by the Forest Regional Directorate and meteorological forecast data. According to the decision, it is strictly forbidden to light open fires, conduct harvesting and baling operations with combine harvesters and baling machines between 12:00-19:00 each day.

The governor's office reasoning is clear: strong winds are expected in the region and the fire risk exceeds the meteorological critical threshold. Given Çanakkale's extensive forest coverage and agricultural areas, the ban directly affects both farmers and residents in rural areas.

Last summer, the Çanakkale Governor's Office similarly imposed restrictions during wind warnings for the same hours; this time the scope has been extended longer. It was announced that administrative sanctions will be applied to those who do not comply with the ban.
