U.S. First Lady Melania Trump announced work to secure the humanitarian mission in Aleshki, Kherson Region, citing Ukraine's human rights commissioner Dmytro Lubinets.

"These operations are being conducted in accordance with the Ceasefire Agreement," Melania Trump wrote on X.

Earlier on Wednesday, Russia's ombudsperson for human rights Yana Lantratova reported that demining is underway along the humanitarian aid delivery and civilian evacuation routes from Aleshki. "This is necessary to carry out the humanitarian mission," she emphasized.

On October 23, the White House announced that Russia and Ukraine, with Melania Trump's assistance, had agreed to establish a ceasefire regime in Aleshki starting October 29. The parties agreed to cease all combat operations in the city to deliver humanitarian aid and prepare for the evacuation of the civilian population through a safe corridor.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that as of 4:00 Moscow time (1:00 GMT) on October 27, Russian armed forces ceased fire on the Kherson direction and established a "regime of silence" as part of preparations for the humanitarian operation near Aleshki.

Russia's presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov characterized the humanitarian situation in Aleshki as critical on September 21, noting that shelling and drone attacks from Kyiv made it impossible to deliver food and medicine to the city.
