Trump: Putin and Zelensky should meet and end the war
The U.S. president said both sides want to reach a deal but don't know how — and promised to secure an agreement.
Donald Trump stated that Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky should hold a face-to-face meeting to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. The U.S. president's comments came on Monday, October 13, before departing the White House for Ohio.
"Zelensky and Putin should meet and put an end to this ridiculous war," Trump told journalists on the South Lawn of the White House. In his assessment, the sides are ready for an agreement, but do not understand how to reach one: "I think they want to make a deal, but they don't know how." Trump pledged to achieve an agreement.
Earlier, on September 23, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists that Zelensky could come to Moscow if he wishes to establish contact with Russian leadership and would receive security guarantees. TASS reported this.
