Akkuyu Nuclear LLC conducted a comprehensive emergency and fire drill at the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Station site, which is being built by Russia's Rosatom, according to an announcement by the company.

The drill involved station operating personnel and emergency and rescue units, alongside civil defense teams from AFAD and the Mersin Municipality Fire Department, as well as teams from the Gülnar Forest Management Directorate. Supporting technical centers for Rosatom and the WANO Moscow Center also participated via video conference.

The drill was observed by Turkey's Deputy Energy and Natural Resources Minister Zaffir Demircan and his Russian counterpart responsible for civil defense and emergencies, Anatoly Suprununovskiy, as well as representatives from the NDK nuclear regulatory authority.

The drill utilized a full-scale simulator at Akkuyu's training and application center, where participants executed scenarios for managing hypothetical exceptional faults. The exercise comes before the station begins actual operations.
