Preliminary consultations between several Palestinian factions began in Cairo today, preceding an anticipated comprehensive national dialogue.

Fatah spokesperson Abdel Fattah Douleh confirmed in a statement to Anadolu Agency that the preliminary meetings include, alongside Fatah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. Douleh clarified that these preliminary meetings will not exceed two days, and that the timing of the comprehensive dialogue will be determined following them, pointing to the possibility of it convening on October 20.

Douleh stated that the preliminary consultations will be dedicated to "completing consultation and preparing for comprehensive dialogue and emphasizing principles of national reconciliation." He indicated that the Fatah delegation includes Central Committee Secretary General Jibril Rajoub and Central Committee member Muhammad Shtayyeh, and that the delegation will arrive in Cairo today.

No direct confirmations have yet been issued by the other factions mentioned regarding their participation. The Fatah Central Committee had issued a statement yesterday following a meeting in Ramallah in which it referred to "strengthening national unity."
