Adana Regional Court of Appeals Sentences Şark to Aggravated Life Imprisonment for Killing 16-Year-Old Hiranur in Toroslar

The 18th Criminal Division of Adana Regional Court of Appeals sentenced Hüseyin Arda Şark (20) to aggravated life imprisonment during a ruling hearing held on October 19. Şark also received an additional two-year prison sentence for the offense of carrying an unlicensed weapon.

The incident occurred on August 31 of last year in the Toroslar district of Mersin. While returning from a military celebration, Şark shot Hiranur Nilgün Aygar (16), who was beside him in the car, in the head with a handgun. Aygar, who was taken to Mersin City Hospital in critical condition, died from her injuries.

Defendants Mustafa Zeybek and Nazmi Çetin, who were released pending trial, were each sentenced to four months in prison for the offense of destroying evidence of the crime.

Following the ruling, Hiranur's father Murat Aygar announced that he would appeal the decision to a higher court. The initial trial was held in Mersin, and the case was transferred to Adana Regional Court of Appeals during the appeals stage.
