In an operation conducted under investigation number 2025/5830 by the Adana Chief Prosecutor's Office, simultaneous raids were carried out across 11 provinces targeting the criminal organization known as 'Şimşekler,' resulting in 64 suspects being detained.
Findings reflected in the investigation file expose the organization's systematic cycle of extortion and armed violence. On July 16, 2024, Murat Susar, operator of 'El Alem Bar,' was attacked after refusing an extortion demand — shot in the left kneecap and right calf. The incident was entered into the investigation file under charges of intentional wounding and attempted aggravated theft.
Another target of the organization was Deniz Arslan. Using a prior altercation as a pretext, Arslan was forcibly abducted on December 18, 2024 from a workplace belonging to Gökhan Korgan; extortion money was then demanded from both individuals. Two days later, on December 20, 2024, Arslan's vehicle was sprayed with gunfire. These acts were recorded under charges of unlawful deprivation of liberty, attempted aggravated theft, and property damage.
The file also documents numerous armed incidents stemming from hostilities between 'Şimşekler' and the rival 'Aratlar' group. The investigation is reported to be ongoing.
