Ten parking lot hustlers released on house arrest in 'Trust Street' operation launched by Ankara Chief Prosecutor's Office investigation

Within the scope of an investigation launched by the Ankara Chief Prosecutor's Office Public Application and On-Call Bureau into illegal parking lot operations, teams from the Ankara Police Department's Public Order Branch conducted the 'Trust Street Operation'; 10 suspects were taken into custody. The suspects were generating illicit income by demanding money from drivers seeking parking spaces in front of various streets, lanes, and businesses throughout the city, and creating parking areas as if they owned them.

The 10 suspects were referred to court and released on house arrest by the judge who heard their case. In a statement, the Ankara Police Department emphasized that under Law No. 2918 on Road Traffic that demanding parking fees in publicly accessible areas is illegal, and called on citizens to report illegal parking lot operators to police.

Illegal parking lot operations, particularly in the Kızılay and Ulus areas, are a chronic problem that has been the subject of complaints for years, though activities are known to continue following operations.
