Austrian man sentenced to 15 years for plotting attack on Taylor Swift Vienna concert

An Austrian court has sentenced an Islamist to 15 years in prison for plotting a terrorist attack on a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna in 2024, Deutsche Welle reported.

The man admitted to planning the attack and pleaded guilty to terrorism-related offences, according to the report. The case drew widespread international attention after Austrian authorities foiled the plot ahead of the scheduled concerts, which were subsequently cancelled as a precautionary measure, causing significant disruption for thousands of fans who had travelled to Vienna.

Authorities at the time described the alleged plan as a serious and credible threat, with investigators uncovering evidence of attack preparations. The suspect was apprehended before any violence could take place.
