Forest fire in Kuyucak, Aydın: 11 helicopters, 220 personnel deployed

A forest fire broke out around 14:00 in woodland near Gencelli village, which falls under Kuyucak district in Aydın. According to reports, the fire spread rapidly due to wind conditions. Authorities deployed 11 helicopters and 6 aircraft from the air, and 40 all-terrain vehicles, 5 water tankers, and 3 dozers on the ground; a total of 220 personnel are actively engaged in the area.

The mountainous and steep terrain has slowed the pace of ground team advancement, while aerial operations form the backbone of the response effort. The fire has not yet been brought under control, and teams are continuing their work.

Gencelli village is located approximately 12 kilometres south of Kuyucak town center. The region experienced brief forest fires during last summer; however, this is the first time a combined deployment of air and ground forces on this scale has been implemented.
