Tiered support for natural gas bills has begun: subscribers in each province who exceed the threshold set at 75 percent of that province's average monthly consumption will receive reduced state assistance. According to BOTAŞ data, the new arrangement will affect approximately 2.8 million subscribers this winter; this figure corresponds to 12 percent of total subscribers.

The October thresholds announced by BOTAŞ are as follows: Istanbul 43.73 cubic meters, Ankara 76.86 cubic meters, Izmir 25.11 cubic meters, Kütahya 70.93 cubic meters, Erzurum 62.83 cubic meters.

In November, as winter conditions take effect, thresholds rose markedly: Istanbul 101.71, Ankara 161.63, Izmir 61.43, Kütahya 156.52, Erzurum 190.61 cubic meters.

The program is evaluated on a monthly basis. A subscriber who exceeds the threshold in November and pays a higher bill may reduce consumption in December and regain full support. The remaining approximately 19 million subscribers are not expected to be affected by the support cuts.

Economy/World news reports noted that the amount reflected in bills will vary based on monthly consumption volume and province-specific thresholds.
