CHP Deputy Yazgan Calls Sexual Harassment Allegation a 'Setup', Says He Will Provide Information to Prosecutors

CHP Edirne Deputy Ahmet Baran Yazgan released a new written statement regarding sexual harassment allegations leveled against him. Yazgan characterized what happened as "a treacherously orchestrated trap and setup"; he said he cannot provide details because the investigation is ongoing, but that he will pass the information he has to prosecutors.

In a previous statement, Yazgan had said: The incident did not occur in his own home, but at an address to which he was invited by the woman who filmed the video; he was struck in the head with a hard object and believes he was given drugs.

Yazgan also told the public that he will apply for the lifting of his parliamentary immunity — a step that deputies rarely resort to in order to open prosecutions against themselves.

The deputy argued that the setup had two aims: to separate him from the CHP and redirect him to the New Party. The statement also emphasized that "the CHP should protect the victimized deputy."
