17 Suspects Including Esenyurt Deputy Mayor Ulutaş Brought to Çağlayan
Seventeen people detained in the Istanbul Chief Prosecutor's Office investigation into public tender manipulation and bribery at Esenyurt Municipality were transferred to court.
Seventeen suspects detained in an investigation into allegations of public tender manipulation and bribery at Esenyurt Municipality were brought to Istanbul Justice Palace in Çağlayan today. The operation, directed by the Istanbul Chief Prosecutor's Office, drew particular attention to current Deputy Mayor Yusuf Ulutaş.
Among the suspects are former Deputy Mayor Ümit Ünal, Director of Neighbourhood Affairs Ziya Seymen, and Parks and Gardens Director İbrahim Doğancıoğlu. The remaining 12 names on the list include municipal employees and owners and staff of companies reported to have participated in the tenders: Tuba Ulutaş Şenyürek, Adnan Şenocak, Doğan Can Göksel, Cemalettin Çağlayan, Harun Berber, and Emrah Koşunalp are among them.
After completing police procedures, the suspects underwent health checks before being transferred to the courthouse; their statements to prosecutors were still being taken at the time AA filed this report.
Esenyurt had come to the centre of public attention last year when the district mayor was removed from office. The Chief Prosecutor's Office is handling this investigation as a separate case.
