Gençlerbirliği released away stand tickets for its Fenerbahçe match on Saturday, August 15, to be played in Ankara at 5,200 lira. The decision drew sharp criticism from yellow-and-navy fans on social media.
Gençlerbirliği President Arda Çakmak defended the price in a statement to HT Spor. Çakmak recalled that last season, 5,000 lira was charged for the Galatasaray away match and 3,750 lira for the Beşiktaş away match, and no complaints were raised. Home fans will pay 4,000 lira per ticket.
The entire goal-end section was allocated to the away fans; 4,700 Fenerbahçe fans will attend the match. Çakmak emphasized that when inflation is factored in, the figure could be even higher. VIP block prices were set separately. When Fenerbahçe was the home team for the same fixture in Istanbul last season, they had sold tickets to away fans below this price point.
