Istanbul Chief Prosecutor's Office detains social media phenomenon 'Alyanure'

The Istanbul Chief Prosecutor's Office has detained 21-year-old H.D., known as TikTok phenomenon 'Alyanure'. The investigation covers allegations of obscenity and the public denigration of religious values held by society, based on H.D.'s social media posts.

H.D. was generating income through a paid subscription system on TikTok; authorities found that the account had 387 paying subscribers, with a monthly subscription fee of 359 TL. The total follower count was determined to be approximately 44,000.

The Istanbul Chief Prosecutor's Office has been notably active in social media investigations of this kind in recent months; last year, multiple account holders were detained on similar content-related charges. The scope of the investigation and whether H.D. will be remanded in custody remain unclear.
