Bostancı, who was bitten by a tick on August 6 in Osmanlar village, could not be saved in the intensive care unit of Karabük Education and Research Hospital.
Nuri Bostancı (61), who lived in Osmanlar village in Eflani district of Karabük, was bitten by a tick on August 6. Bostancı, who became ill within a short time, applied to the emergency department of Karabük Education and Research Hospital. Admitted to intensive care with suspected Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF), Bostancı did not respond to treatment and died. His body was brought to Eflani Central Market Mosque and buried in the Akbaş neighborhood cemetery in Osmanlar village after the afternoon prayer. CCHF continues to claim lives in Turkey every year, particularly during the May-October period in Black Sea, Central Anatolia, and Eastern Anatolia provinces; the Ministry of Health detected more than 400 cases nationwide last year. The fact that only a few days passed from tick bite to death in this case draws attention to the rapid course of the disease.
