New mass grave from 1998-99 war discovered in Kosovo's Zubin Potok municipality

Anadolu Agency reported that a new mass grave containing remains from the 1998-1999 Kosovo War has been discovered in Zubin Potok municipality in northern Kosovo.

Zubin Potok is one of the sensitive areas in northern Kosovo, where a predominantly Serb population resides; the municipality has previously been the subject of judicial investigations into war-period casualties. The Kosovo Government's Commission on Missing Persons and the War Crimes Prosecutor's Office are said to be sending teams to the site; however, no official figures have yet been released regarding the number and identity of the remains.

Approximately 13,000 people died during the Kosovo War; according to UN data, over 1,600 people remain classified as missing. The discovery in Zubin Potok adds another site to the list of mass grave investigations in the region.
