New mass grave from 1998-99 war identified in Kosovo's Zubin Potok municipality

Anadolu Agency reported that a new mass grave containing remains from the 1998-1999 Kosovo War has been identified in Zubin Potok municipality in northern Kosovo.

Zubin Potok is one of the sensitive areas in northern Kosovo, where the predominantly Serbian population resides; the municipality has previously been the subject of judicial investigations into wartime disappearances. The Kosovo Government's Commission on Missing Persons and the War Crimes Prosecutor's Office are said to send teams to the site; however, no official figures have yet been released regarding the identity and number of remains.

Approximately 13,000 people lost their lives during the Kosovo War; according to UN data, more than 1,600 people still remain missing. The discovery in Zubin Potok adds a new case to mass grave investigations in the region.
