Mine workers and their relatives waiting at Akköprü Metro Station were detained on the fourth day of action by the Independent Mine Workers' Union in front of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources. Previously, numerous workers including General Chairman Gökay Çakır and Organization Specialist Başaran Aksu had been detained. Workers from Elazığ Eti Gümüş mines within Yıldızlar SSS Holding and Doruk Mining employees are staging the action demanding payment of their wages. Lütfi Sabri Batı, the union's lawyer, said in a statement on social media: "We know they are being held in custody because they announced plans to attend the 'Turkey Ready for the Future' rally in which the President will also participate," and added "We intend to attend this rally even with a delegation." Immediately after this statement, worker relatives in Akköprü were also detained. The total number of people detained since the first day of the action remains unclear.
