Sabalenka and Gauff advance to third round at Roland Garros
World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka and defending champion Coco Gauff have both booked their places in the third round of the French Open.
The top favorites continue to make their presence felt at Roland Garros, the season's second Grand Slam tournament. World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka and 2024 French Open champion Coco Gauff both advanced to the third round after winning their second-round matches.
Playing on the historic Philippe Chatrier courts in Paris, Sabalenka has carried the strong form she displayed throughout the season into Roland Garros. Despite the demanding conditions of the clay, the Belarusian continues to move through the draw by brushing aside her opponents.
American rising star Gauff, armed with the championship experience she gained a year ago, is looking confident on the Paris courts. After her historic title run last season, Gauff is continuing her campaign this year with the clear aim of defending her crown.
As the tournament progresses, the quarterfinal and semifinal matchups involving both players will take shape in the coming days. Roland Garros continues to hold its place as the most prestigious clay-court event on the tennis calendar.
