Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued its strongest condemnation of what it described as a deliberate infiltration of Kuwait's Bubiyan Island by an armed group belonging to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, stating that the incursion was carried out with the intent of committing hostile acts against Kuwait.
The ministry categorically rejected the violation, characterising it as a clear breach of international law and the Charter of the United Nations. It further warned that such acts undermine international efforts aimed at restoring security and stability across the region.
Riyadh expressed full solidarity with Kuwait, its government and its people, and reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's unconditional support for all measures Kuwait may take to safeguard its sovereignty, security and stability.
The incident adds fresh strain to already fraught relations between Gulf Arab states and Tehran, with Saudi Arabia signalling it stands firmly alongside Kuwait in the face of what it views as destabilising Iranian military conduct in the region.
