Syria's official news agency SANA reported that passenger and commercial vehicle traffic at the Nasib Border Crossing on the Jordanian border resumed normal operations beginning Wednesday morning, October 28, 2026. According to information conveyed by Habertürk citing the AA, the decision to close the crossing was made immediately after Jordan conducted an air strike on Daraa province in southern Syria, which resulted in the deaths of 7 civilians.

Jordan stated that the strike was in retaliation for the church attack in Karak and targeted DAESH positions; it expressed regret over the civilian casualties.

According to government sources, a joint committee formed by Syria and Jordan will convene within two days to discuss the details and consequences of the strikes on Daraa, and to develop field and intelligence coordination mechanisms aimed at preserving Syrian sovereignty and ensuring the safety of civilians.
