Discussions on the draft law concerning certain investment funds whose liquidation was decided were completed in the Grand National Assembly plenary.

Mustafa Kalaycı, MHP deputy from Konya, stated that the liquidation proceedings of 66 investment funds were completed within the framework of the Capital Markets Board (SPK) decision dated 30 September 2026, and a total of 40.8 billion lira was paid to 45,747 people. Kalaycı also reported that the number of funds in the liquidation process decreased from 131 to 65. The total number of affected parties was announced as 455,758 individual persons.

Cevdet Akay, CHP deputy from Karabük, said that among those affected there was a wide cross-section ranging from retirees to minimum wage earners, from earthquake survivors to couples about to be married. Akay also alleged that some public bank executives obtained excessive gains from the aforementioned funds and stated that they were waiting for explanations from the authorities.

Bülent Kaya, Deputy Group Chair of the New Path Party, argued that a "fund robbery" occurred in the capital market and that this situation was not limited to investor losses, and demanded that a parliamentary investigation commission be established. Kaya also criticized the ruling party's statements that "This matter is in court, so we cannot establish a commission."

Erhan Usta, Good Party deputy from Samsun, stated that the high inflation experienced after 2021 directed investors toward these funds, but those involved in crime exploited this environment. Usta emphasized that political will for a solution had not yet formed, expressing concern that serious damages would occur.

Bloomberg HT reported the story.
