Following reports that 2,914 people have presented to health facilities with nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea since Friday evening, October 9, Tokat's provincial administration suspended classes on Monday, October 12, at all public and private schools, formal and informal educational institutions, and rehabilitation centers in the city center.

According to the provincial administration's statement, the decision was made to enable more efficient disinfection operations in schools. Of the 18 children receiving inpatient treatment, 6 have been discharged.

Disabled and pregnant employees working in public institutions and organizations will also be granted administrative leave on the same day. Tokat is experiencing one of Turkey's largest mass poisoning incidents; in the past, no such citywide measure had been implemented at this scale in the region.
