2,914 People Sought Hospital Care in Tokat; Local Authority Bans Network Water

Tokat Provincial Administration announced today that, due to rapidly increasing patient admissions in the city center since Friday evening, October 9, 2026, a total of 2,914 people have visited healthcare facilities as of 08:00. Of the 18 children receiving inpatient treatment, 6 have been discharged; the condition of the others is reported to be good.

The Provincial Administration recommended refraining from using drinking water until the cause of the complaints is determined. Network water may be used for daily personal needs, but it was specifically emphasized that it must not be ingested orally.

Water samples collected from various points in the city have been sent to the Ankara Public Health Reference Laboratory for detailed analysis. Laboratory results will be released within three days.

Tokat Municipality had last conducted a major water infrastructure repair in 2023 in the districts of Pazar and Artova; at that time, a brief precautionary warning had been issued. This time, facing a comprehensive ban covering the central district, bottled water stocks in markets were reported to have been depleted in the early morning hours.
