Over the first eight months of 2026, Kyrgyzstan imported 106,116 passenger cars worth $926.3 million. Compared to the same period last year, the cost of imports rose by 33.2 percent, while volume increased by 23.85 percent, according to data from the National Statistics Committee.

China holds over 56 percent of the market — more than 50,000 vehicles. South Korea accounts for 21.76 percent: nearly 37,000 automobiles. In August alone, the country received 14,060 passenger cars valued at $129 million.

Import volume exceeded export by 38.6 times in quantity and by 14 times in value, creating a record negative trade gap.

Passenger car exports for January–August totaled 2,749 units worth $66 million. Revenue rose by 122.52 percent compared to the previous year, while volume increased by 41.05 percent. More than 81 percent of export revenue goes to Russia.

In addition to passenger cars, over the eight months Kyrgyzstan imported 17,686 trucks valued at $223.6 million, 2,219 special-purpose vehicles worth $53.2 million, and 1,149 buses worth $33.5 million. China is the main supplier in all categories.

Auto and tractor parts were imported in a volume of 27,458.5 tons valued at $90.4 million. Auto parts exports — primarily to Russia and Belarus — totaled 4,843.5 tons worth $41.3 million.
