CIS Defense Ministers Arrive in Kyrgyzstan for Tamchy Council Meeting

On October 14, 2026, delegations led by defense ministers from several member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States landed at Issyk-Kul International Airport, located in the village of Tamchy on the shore of Lake Issyk-Kul. The visit was prompted by a session of the CIS Council of Defense Ministers to be held on the territory of Kyrgyzstan.

Among those who arrived were official delegations from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. In addition to national delegations, representatives of the CIS Secretariat—the permanent executive body of the organization—are participating in the event.

The Council of Defense Ministers is one of the key structures of the CIS, coordinating military cooperation among member states. At the upcoming session, discussions are planned on current issues regarding the development of interaction in the defense sphere, as well as review and signing of corresponding documents that will formalize agreements between the participating countries.
