Diesel prices in Turkey jumped 3 lire and 60 kuruş in a single hike, climbing from 99.20 lire to 102.80 lire per litre. At a fuel station in the city of Isparta, the price increase exposed a tangible problem: the station's price board was designed for only two-digit numbers, and once the price broke the 100-lire threshold, owners were forced to tape a sticker with the numeral '1' in front of the price figures.

The increase also affected petrol, which rose from 78.50 lire to 82.60 lire per litre at the same station.

Mehmet Şamur, a regular at the station, said the increases "strain the budget significantly," adding that the price "could reach 120 or 130 lire by year's end." Hassan Acar, meanwhile, highlighted how petroleum derivative price hikes ripple across other sectors, expressing his belief that the global crisis will not end in the near term and that price increases will continue.
