Yemen's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah Al-Saeedi, submitted an official letter to UN Secretary-General António Guterres and Permanent Representative of Greece Aglaia Ballis, in her capacity as president of the current session of the UN Security Council, detailing an attack launched by the Houthis on Aden International Airport.

The letter stated that the Houthis targeted the airport on the morning of Wednesday, October 7, with two ballistic missiles and explosive-laden drones, at a time when a civilian aircraft was approaching the runway, while the airport housed passengers and staff on the ground.

The letter described the attack as a serious escalation and a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and international standards and norms related to the protection of civilian aviation, noting that targeting a civilian airport constitutes a continuation of a systematic Houthi pattern targeting civilian infrastructure.

The letter affirmed that the attack threatens the safety of regional and international air navigation.
