Russian President Vladimir Putin informed his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump in a phone call on Friday that resuming peace talks with Ukraine is unlikely at the current stage.

Yuri Ushakov, an aide to the Russian presidency for foreign affairs, said Putin indicated that Moscow had been prepared to resume negotiations with Kyiv following the conclusion of parliamentary elections, but the Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow and other cities and polling centers on the most critical days of the election has made immediate resumption of trilateral negotiations between Russia, Ukraine, and the United States impossible.

Ushakov added: "The president will now assess when these negotiations can be resumed," referring to the trilateral talks.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio described the military situation in Ukraine on Thursday as a "dangerous stalemate," stressing that Washington will continue pursuing an agreement to end the war.
