The Turkish government, represented by the ruling Justice and Development Party, is preparing to submit a bill to the Grand National Assembly regarding the definition of Turkish maritime authority in the Aegean Sea, the Mediterranean Sea, and the Black Sea.

According to Turkish newspaper Cumhuriyet, the draft law, for which preparatory work is still underway, will be referred to parliament following the conclusion of the Eid al-Adha holiday. The content of the bill centers on establishing a clear legal framework to define Turkey's exclusive economic zones and continental shelf in these three seas.

This bill comes within the context of Ankara's ongoing efforts to consolidate its maritime claims and strengthen its sovereign rights in surrounding areas, matters that carry significant strategic importance amid escalating regional competition with several neighboring countries.
